Shubie, he was out. His understudy was good though.
If you fail to sneak into his room and seduce him and make him buy you everything you ever wanted, you can always open up an erotic bakery. It seems that there are people here who could help.
Fredi, I've heard people say that Rent was more like the West Village then the East- did you live there when the show is set?
Yes, yes I do.. *smiles broadly**
Like I said I coudl think of a good ingredient or two for a cake like that of my own..
Wardrobe union?
Unfortunately, Alan remembered me the last time we met, so I don't know how easy it would be for me to sneak past him

i'm not sure i understand the question...
but i can answer part of it..
i've never lived in the east village...
(at least not by choice - had to sublet on east 12th the year my apt burned down for six months till i could go home to beautiful brooklyn!)

yeah shub - wardrobe union - dressers, ya know?
the people who bring them their underwear every day?
and help them get dressed...?
actors can often get VERY comfortable around their dresser - if you know what i mean....

Sorry for being confusing. I had a big PM convo with a poster here a while back who lived there and had friends who squatted in that same lot and did not respect Rent very much, to put it mildly.
Shub, when did you meet him? In real life or were you dreaming?

and nia..
rent is definitely set in the East Village...

nia - well hey, that's why art is subjective...
not everybody is going to like everything...
for example - someone hated "mystic river"?
beautiful by me....
well can I just say ballet dancers get very comfortable around production staff.. And man do they have nice bodies..
**mmm dance belts** hehe

i'm just saying that being a dresser is certainly the easiest way into the dressing rooms...
and you get paid for it!
Out of pure curiousity and not stalker-ish wonder..hehee ..how do you become a dresser?
Som, I met him first at the Chiller Theatre Convention in New Jersey - I brought him flowers because he'd been sick, and he was very happy to get them. Then I met him outside the stage door during the CT leg of the Producers tour and he remembered me.

i have a dumb question -
are showers in the dressing room itself or like a public backstage area - so to speak?
Hey ya'll.

well it's not as easy as becoming an usher..
and it helps if you have sewing skills..
if you are truly interested, i'll pm more info
but it's a very competitive field and a lot of talented divas out there need gigs..
i wouldn't want to treat that lightly...
All the theatres I have been in the showers are in the dressing rooms. but I can't say for all theatres.
Sure, Fredi, send away. Thank you. But then, isn't every theatrical job highly competitive? Adds to my character :)

i was wondering about the gershwin - when they always say idina is taking a shower, etc...i always pictured my dorm or something - with a hall of rooms and a common bathroom haha
(note: not being stalkerish to go sneak into her room and go "Psycho" on her.)

Why do you need to know about showers? If anyone's going to take one with you, they'll show you where it is, I bet.
I visited Shoshana in that dressing room - it's got its own little bathroom and shower.

nia - i get lost so, you know, i need to know this things before hand
hahaha, it was just a random questiom - like where is the green room in a certain theatre?

Shub: I know what you mean. Like I had it on the other day and they had a video of someone's parachute crash landing on the roof of a building.

showers...
principal dressing rooms will often have their own shower..
ensemble dressing rooms will also often have bath and showers but it's more "gym like"....
it all depends on the theatre...
some old theatres don't even have toilets in the dressing rooms...
it's always a hit or miss on the road - but the truth is almost all road theatres are better than broadway ones because they are newer (with the exception of the Gershwin i'm sure...)
and the greenroom can be anywhere - though ususally "downstairs" or under the stage somehow...
