I believe this with every inch of my being--those who stand for the civil rights of the GLBT community will have stood on the right side of history. The rest be ashamed.

If only all politicians were that wise. I hope that he stays in office for a very, very long time and that he is able to gain a lot of influence. We need more people like him in government.

I just wonder what would REALLY happen is Dems stood up for this? Would they lose elections? Or would they energize the base?

I dunno, this repub might cross the aisle if that happened. Right now I'm basically in the middle and I make my own decisions about stuff. I've never been a follow the party kind of girl.
