Posted: 3/8/04 at 8:12pmHey everyone, I just saw the movie The Shape of Things and I cannot understand what it is that Adam and Evelyn whispered to each other, that whisper that came up in the final scene. What was its significance? I am obsessed with this, I cannot function until someone explains this to me.

Posted: 3/9/04 at 12:04pmYou're absolutely right, Sueleen. My sarcasm doesn't always take into account matters of logic and chronology.

I truly loathed SHAPE OF THINGS. Another mean-spirited piece of LaBute-ese from the pen of a man who revels in down n'dirty humiliation as a key defining characteristic of human nature. His first two movies were bold, interesting to a point, but by this go-round, the debasing of one person by another is just tired and recycled. And in SHAPE, we had to endure his arch, stage-bound, overwritten dialogue. The otherwise talented cast came off like hambones.
I'm sure Neil would say "that's just the reaction I wanted!"

Posted: 3/9/04 at 3:57pmThanks, Sueleen, I tried. It's hard to be funny when you have midterms and no sleep. Fortunately, I got conned into buying a salon package yesterday in Starbucks (along with my best friend, Daisy Hilton), so I can cash in on a neck and shoulder Shiatzu massage next week during my week off.

LaBute made other films? Which ones were they! I enjoyed The Shape of Things, very much!
