Just when I thought the best thing happening in San Fran this summer was going to be the Avenue Q tour...
Anyway, if anyone is interested, the newly reconstituted Smashing Pumpkins (minus Darcy and James of course) are going to be playing 8 shows at the historic Fillmore venue from July 22 up through August 1. They'll be showcasing songs from their new album 'Zeitgeist' (release date July 10) as well as classics from previous albums, rarities, new material etc.
Tickets will be going on sale this coming Sunday at 10am, through www.ticketmaster.com or www.livenation.com. They're only $25 each, a total bargain.
I'm going to try to go to all 8 of them, and my best friend from Nyc is taking a whole week off of work so she can come here and stalk Billy Corgan with me. Would anyone like to join us? :)It'll be fun, I promise.

Grrr...
I just (as in about 3 hours ago) had a huge venting session about this. I go to school up in the Bay Area, about 40 minutes from the city. But, of course, this concert has to take place during the summer when I'm back home. And, of course, the Smashing Pumpkins aren't making a stop in my hometown. Oh, the despair.
Well, they're only stopping in two places so don't feel too bad. It'll be 9 performances in North Carolina, then 8 here. Maybe you can catch the North Carolina shows, although a big part of the appeal of these is that they're going to be at the Fillmore, which is like, my absolute favorite venue in the country. That place is just magical to me.
Guess you're going to miss Avenue Q and Sweeney too then, lol...
