I'm revisiting the 1970s and watching The Snoop Sisters. A couple of comments.
I wonder why the rotational shows didn't catch on? The Snoop Sisters was one show in a rotation of mystery shows. Was it just too much for a network to produce?
Helen Hayes was beautiful as an old lady. She was 72 when the show started and she still looks regal and photographs very well for 1970s tv.
It's wonderful how they mixed comedy and murder in the same show. I wonder why they never did a reboot? Maybe with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench?
The pilot had more stars than a Love Boat episode. In addition to Helen Hayes and Mildred Natwick, it had Art Carney, Jill Clayburgh (just weeks before Pippin), Paulette Goddard (lured out of retirement), Lawrence Pressman, Kurt Kasznar, Ed Flanders, Fritz Weaver, Ed Platt

I don't remember too much about the show, but I did like it. Was so glad when Hec Ramsey wasn't on the rotation.

It's interesting, because now that's essentially the appeal of PBS' Mystery (even if it is now just half of the Masterpiece franchise.)

I remember liking it a lot as a kid. And of course, for me, Helen Hayes was "that nice lady from Herbie Rides Again."
A few years later, I found out she had done a just little more than that ...

The discovery process is a wonderful thing. I know that many actors hate it, but that's how I found out about several famous people. Shirley Booth, Agnes Moorehead, Yvonne DeCarlo, Barbara Stanwyck. TV brought them into our homes, but it also made us curious to look at their other work.
I was really surprised when I discovered Lily Munster sang a great song in a Broadway musical.
