The Turning Point (1977)

The script is dreck but the lead actresses do bring some life to it and the glimpses of past ballet greats.

The Turning Point (1977)

You people call it a soap opera like that's a bad thing!

It's heartfelt, beautiful, and the final confrontation is worthy of the 40s Woman's Picutre. I still love the movie for its "soapiness." It was supposed to be a glossy entertainment, not a post-Feminist tract. On its own terms, it delivers, and documents some equisite dancing by ballet stars at the height of their powers. By the way -- its out of print in DVD. I asked recently at Barnes and Noble.
