did anyone see this? I'm pretty sure it's from the 70s and the plot has been changed (Burrs = Grimms) but from the IMDB profile, It looks very interesting!

Thoughts?

Believe me when I tell you that this movie of The Wild Party is bad.

Not so bad its good, but so bad that it is really really bad.

Not worth your time, it is so bad.

It just lays there like a bad date.

It is being considered as a substitute for lethal injection in several states. Watch it and die, it is so bad.

You have been warned. This post is far more entertaining than this movie.

A true stinker and I think it is Merchant-Ivory.

I do not think it is that bad (I have on dvd). It is a Merchant Ivory movie, and while certianly, not their best, it is interesting. For me, the worst part was Raquel Welch as 'Queenie.' Never been a fan of hers.

Probably one of the worst films made.

Besides the name changes, the plot changes are just ridiculous.

The poor poem. Moncure probably spun in his grave.

Actually, he's probably still spinning.

You'd be dead too if your work became this movie.

I thought the spinning was from a musical version with a particular song with the completely out-of-period songtitle "Raise the Roof."

The movie has very little to do with the poem, and a lot more to do with the Fatty Arbuckle rape scandal (James Coco plays the Arbuckle character).

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

If you're interested, there's a new book, I believe it's called "Fiascos", about huge box-office bombs and it has a chapter about "The Wild Party".

It's screenplay was written by Walter Marks who wrote the lyrics for the Chita Rivera flop "Bajour" and for Steve Lawrence and Edie Gormet "Golden Rainbow"

Can't say the same for Lippa's pen, however.

JON - the problem is they use the title and, of course, it says it is based on the poem. That was the mistake. Not to mention Welch's Queenie.
