I can't believe this is actually a contest for that, but in this day and age I shouldn't be surprised.

I think there was another ugly dog that was posted on here before and I'm pretty sure it was a different one. He may have passed away though...
Edit: Yes, here he is. He passed away.
Bitter beer face?
awwww.... I watched this competition on TV!!! Those dogs are hideous, but I'm glad they're not neglected.
The one that passed away that won like 4 years in a row looks like a monster. He's hideous. But I'll bet he was a very loving pooch.
I second the sentiment that it's good they are not neglected.
Is it weird that I think this dog is kind of cute in an odd way?
Uglies can be cute. *at least he hopes*

Sam the most celebrated ugly dog, who passed on in 2005. Absolutely the coolest thing ever! I have a *great* deal of affection for that pooch. :3
i actually find this competition kind of sad.
it must be the inner pet owner in me...
That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. That poor dog shouldn't have been born so hideous.
yea, that's the one I was talking about Weez. Hideous!
But a heart of gold I'll bet.
He was apparently a very affectionate little sweetie. He was a Chinese crested, which are acquired tastes to begin with, visually. They look a bit like mostly-hairless chihuahuas but with great tufts of hair coming out of their ears and tails and other strategic points. If you don't mind freakish, they look all right, until they start getting old and their hair goes straggly and their skin gets saggy. Then they look a bit sad, poor things. As you can see, Sammy got some cataracts and warts in addition to wrinkly skin and lifeless hair, plus he had some other ailments, the details of which I can never remember.
I'd rather see an ugly dog competition than most other beauty contests. At least with ugly dogs, you're not training them to be sluts place great emphasis on superficial beauty from a young age, and it really is just a bit of fun. In fact, I think it's beneficial in the long run, because there's now a whole subculture of people - myself included - who are likely to adopt the more physically unfortunate pooches, who would ordinarily stay unadopted for years, from animal shelters because we've seen they can be just as appealing as fluffy young puppies. In their freakish ugly way. :)
And I already am a pet owner, so there's no "inner" coming out here. I'd be just as happy entering my rodents in competitions that would be demeaning and humiliating for humans. If only they had a Most Idiotic Roborovski Hamster or Most Moronic Rat competition...
because there's now a whole subculture of people - myself included - who are likely to adopt the more physically unfortunate pooches
I wish it wasn't a sub-culture. Thses animals deserve loving homes as much as any other animal. But, it is what it is I suppose. Anyway - good for you Weez. You have my admiration.

I watched the contest on Animal Planet awhile back. . . it's basically just a Chinese Crested competition. No other dogs are nearly ugly enough to compete! Before the Chinese Crested made their debut, there were mainly Bulldogs in the competition. Personally, I don't think a Bulldog is ugly at all, even more so now that Chinese Cresteds are popping up among dog owners.
