After watching this past episode of American Horror Story: Freakshow, something came across my mind. Since this is supposively Jessica Lange's last season on AHS (as a lead or supporting), I think Ryan Murphy was very strategic in creating the character of Elsa Mars for Lange. As we've seen in the episode "Oprhans", Mars ends up getting her fame and television show. Also, Murphy confirmed that all seasons are, and will be, connected in a central universe.
This opens TONS of possilities for bit parts for Lange in future seasons. With Murphy's love of theatrics and showtunes, I have a feeling each season will have a song or two from Mars (from the variety show she eventually headlines), whether it be live on television if it's a season set in the 50's-60's, or on re-runs/old tapes if it's set in a contemprary time period. I don't think this season will be the last for Lange, even if it is just for a song.
