The job strikes back
#0The job strikes back
Posted: 5/25/06 at 8:57amThe job that I have said for a while now that I despise, has let 600 of it's employees go and unfortunately I am one of them. Although, I hated this job from Hell, it brought me a paycheck but tomorrow is my last day and it's to unemployment I go. A part of me is glad that it is over but another part of me is freaking out thinking of bills and such.

So, back to Monster.com... maybe this time you'll find something you like!
Sorry to hear about that, however.

you don't happen to work for Merril Lynch, do you? A dear friend of mine was just laid off from there, along with many others.
It is a scary time to be looking for work. I feel for you. That is why I'm hanging on to a job that I hate more any other job I've ever done, because the idea of being out there looking right now is not a pleasant one. And my friend has a child, so I'm really sorry this happened.
Best of luck to you.

redhot--I work for 1-800 Medicare which was started by Satan himself. Not only are we ripping these poor old people off, but we actually cover things that need not be covered (penis pumps and Viagra) but do not cover needed items (bath aids and white canes for blind people, etc.). Technically, I am employed by a temp agency called Kelly Services who told us that within 90 days, we would become permanent . . . cut to a year later and I am still temping. They also said that they would start letting a select few go in August. It is now May and they are letting EVERY SINGLE temp go because they ran out of money. Plus, they treat us so horrible, changing our work ours 48 hours before we have to start the new hours, when by law they have to give us 2 weeks. On May 15th which was the last day for drug plan enrollment, they told us that we were only allowed 30 minutes for lunch with no breaks (again, against the law) and we were not allowed to leave the premises. It is terrible. That is why a part of me is glad to be leaving.
ckeaton and Elphaba--I hope so, but I don't know how it going to be, because my town is small and "real" jobs are very hard to find with openings. Unless you want to work at a fast food restaraunt or the mall, you have to drive almost a hour and a half to get to a "real" job (which I am doing now). Hopefully, something comes about.

Hey tinny, at least you got to tell off your old boss. THAT must have been satisfying. The mere memory of that certainly must sustain you while, as you say, "I'm hanging on to a job that I hate more any other job I've ever done."
