So, after a God-awful weekend, I was sobbing in my room when my roommate of two whole weeks (we're not roommates by choice, but chance) walked in, and took me in her arms, telling me it was okay, and hugging me, and kissing my forehead. She was the sweetest person I've ever encountered---I've NEVER seen her like that before. I pulled myself together and went to rehearsal. When I came back, my room was clean and she had MADE ME CHICKEN SOUP!!!
Jessica, this thread is for you.
Anyone else have sweet roomie stories?
Somehow I think this will be a very empty thread. Especially once broadway_star_tomorrow sees it.
My roommate does karate chanting noises in the shower.
...yeah.
Sorry...I was just so surprised and overwhelmed I needed to share.
We only vent! We never share!!!
Since when is this board about warm fuzzies, dammit?? It's a Broadway board. If not for drama queens and histrionics, where would it be???
I really, really, REALLY hope you're not accusing me of not being a drama queen, Tiff!
My roommate never leaves.
Ever. He also has no TV and no stereo. It's completely quiet in his room 24/7.
He scares me.
See, Lael, what did I tell you?
Whoops, didn't mean to open that can of worms...
I love my roommate! Of course there are things that bug me, but I think that's true whenever people live together. You're bound to get on each other's nerves from time to time, especially when you share one incredibly tiny room like my roommate and I do. But I'm generally really glad I have her. We have very similar personalities that match well. It's always nice to come back to the room after a long day and vent to her and just have someone listen to me.
My first roommate was the sweetest, funniest and most random person I've ever met in my entire life! She transferred this semester, but I'll never forget some of the hysterical times we had our first semester. Not all roommates are bad, but like #1Elphie said, you're bound to get on the nerves of the person you're living with.
I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove my roommate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my roommate to death. We have so much fun.

I adore my roommate. She is a hard ass girl who I have never met anyone like. We are SO different, but at the same time, we are so much alike it's crazy. She grew up in Staten Island, and I grew up in Georgia. So yeah, she's never stepped foot in the south. She's coming home with me this summer for a couple of weeks. My mom is going to make her fried chicken, and FRIED OKRA!!! This is a very big deal...
I'm also taking her to my favorite restaurant in Atlanta- Agnes and Muriel's. I love that place! (Next week I will be enjoying a nice plate of their Coca-Cola Baby back ribs, apple fritters, and fried okra.) Heaven...
See, Tiff??? SOME People like their roomies!!

I like my roomie. Even when she gets up at 7:30 every Monday and wakes me up. *sigh* So sleepy.

My first roommate did acid and cut things. He was not very nice.
My first roommate moved in with her best friend down the hall by October (bff's roommate had left school), but left all her crap in her room. So basically she came by to change after she got out of the shower every morning. I can't really complain either way, I didn't really know her.
Current roommate is great, we get along and watch late-night TV until 4am and rant about school.
MATT G perhaps your roommate can read. i had one once who did so...scary, but i can see the usefulness of it. Some people can actually study in their room, not me.
i've been amazingly lucky in roomies, both the ones by choice and the ones otherwise arranged. Somehow they are always attractive, particularly if by choice.
And "love my" in the title has been taken literally once, and (i wish) figuratively a couple of times...once by a broadcast-sport-journalism major and most recently by a Texas-A&M-cadet...oh, the fantasy material!
what's really odd is right now i'm casually looking for a housemate. If any of the gems mentioned here are moving to Houston, kindly PM me!

I absolutely love my roommate. And that whole, "you're bound to get on each other's nerves" thing doesn't apply to us (or at least me.) She's absolutely fabulous! She's crazy and we have so much fun together.

I LOVE it when my roommates "accidentally" throw out my food or talk really loudly at 1 am the day before my morning midterm.
They're effing annoying. But we are good friends. We've all helped each other through a lot and DAMN those girls can party!
JUDY IN DISGUISE WITH DIAMONDS...
from that pic i just had a great idea for a new cable sitcom....SEX IN THE 'SITY. The univerSITY, that is.
i'l give you a small cut of the royalties, and a bigger cut if i can have access to each girl's diary for inspiration. If it turns into a reality show, i want creative control of the editing.

TX2,
THAT IS AN AWESOME IDEA!
I am very impressed.
The funny thing is how Sex in the City we are. The top girl is a total Carrie, the redhead is a complete Charlotte, I'm quite the Samantha, and the bottom girl is definitely Miranda.
My roommate broke my fridge 3 weeks ago and hasn't replaced it yet, hasn't fed his cat in 3 months (I do it), never puts the garbage out, eats my food, borrows money and wakes me up by jumping on my bed when he's smashed at 3am...Now what's not to love?
