The shame of being Irish on St. Pat's day.

Posted: 3/17/08 at 6:10pmI'm Irish too but I don't get how everyone thinks that only the Irish are big drinkers. If you go around spewing all kinds of stupid stereotypes about other people, someone will yell at you and lecture you on how ignorant you are. Yet for some reason, it's always cool to rank on the Irish.

Posted: 3/17/08 at 6:16pmI'm real Irish too and St.Patricks Day is annoying. I didn't go to the parade and I'm not wearing green! St.Patricks Day used to be a Catholic holy day for an English saint and now its all commercial, as someone said leprachauns dont exist , I dont know anyone under 65 who drinks guiness and corned beef - I only foung out today that its assoc with the Irish.lol!

I am 100% Irish and I just look of today as a celebration, whether you're Irish or not.
I agree Bluemoon, it is quite clever. :)

Multiple dining hall workers randomly wished me a happy st. patty's day today.
Then I realised I have red hair.
Darn stereoptyping.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 5:42pmI'm 100% Irish and never really minded St. Patrick's Day...really, it's just a fun day to celebrate my heritage. I mean, I hate the stereotypes (I never drink for one) and think it's very important to know about Irish history, but if anyone wants to get hammered and dress up as a leprechaun, that's their business and I couldn't care less.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 6:04pmUm...you don't get it. This thread is not really about being Irish, Irish stereotypes or parades. Joe is using the activities of St. Patrick's Day to make a point about something else.
