So...I'm interested in finding out about Theatre Summer Day Camps for Kids. Has anyone been in one? Know anything about them? If you have, can you tell me your experiences? Was it just theatre? Or did it include other activities like swimming and food? How long was the camp? How much did it cost? What did you like about about it? Didn't like?
This is for a research project.
Thanks.

I went to Idyllwild Arts camp a few times, it's a two week stay program in the middle of the mountains in CA. andd... I LOVED it. We put together a little makeshift show, and it was a wonderful experience to be with kids my age and older/younger that shared my passion for the arts. It was $600 for two weeks (with a scholarship) including room/board. Without scholarship it's about $2000 i think. There were all types of arts camps available at the same time there.. including orchestra, painting, sculpting, dance, cinema, screenwriting, photography, choir, EVERYTHING! It had a beautiful campus with a large outdoor concert amphitheater, swimming pool, library. It's also an arts high school during the year. It's only downfall is that there were 5 kids to a room usually fitting 2 with one bathroom. But it was sooo fun.. and i'm still friends with the people I met there.
Good luck with your project :]

I went to a 3 week sleepaway camp in Austin, Texas. It's called the Texas Art Project (TAP). It was amazing! It was set up in a very college-like way. You pick a concentration and take classes within that concentration(Musical Theatre, Acting, Dance, Film, and technical theatre). On top of the classes and workshops, everyone puts together a showcase to present on the last day of camp. It was a great experience. We rehearsed pretty much all day and didn't have much time to do anything else. It was very busy, but we still made time to go into town to see 2 fully staged musicals. That was two years ago and I still miss it. It was one of the greatest experiences I've ever experienced. So far. lol.
