Yeah, it was quite surprising, and I'm sad to see him go.

mabel - really on Lucchino? I haven't read much news today (busy at work!) I am calling Dan Shaunnessy right now... (just kidding).
Theo is like a legend - at age 31 no less, too funny!

If Lucchino goes, Epstien might come back. It would be the best move Boston could make.
Man, I really thought this new ownership group would clean up all the Yawkey-style nastiness and infighting, but it doesn't look like it's happening. I mean, the Yankees have had their issues, too, but Steinbrenner's learned how to deal with it- he gave his smart young GM control and kept him on board. I wish Epstein good luck in whatever he does. What is he, 31? And I bet almost every team in the game would love to have him. He'll be fine. :)

There appears to be some scuttlebut about Lucchino getting the axe, but I don't know. I was talking to my folks on their way home from work, and that's what was on the radio. Then again, it could have just been the ranting of one person. I suppose it's too early to yet.
Whatever happens, I'm sure he won't have too much trouble finding other offers. I heard something about him leaving baseball for a while and going to work w/ his brother??? I have no idea though. We'll see.

HOTTIE!
I can't belive he's leaving. It was a shock to me and all my friends who are fans of the Red Sox. It's sad because now I won't get to drool over him when NESN talks to him during the games.
Also more bad news for the sox (or good news for Yannke fans.) Word has it that Manny wants out as does David Wells, and most of the team are free agents inculding Johnny Damon. David Wells can leave for all I care as long as Damon stays I'm a happy camper.

Posted: 11/2/05 at 8:27pmI'd be shocked if Johnny stays. I feel like he's going to want way more than he's worth. I think with all of his head injuries he's become a bit of a liability in the field. I don't know off hand what the numbers were (and I think we all know I'm too lazy to look them up) but I seem to recall an awful lot of fielding errors towards the end of the season. Yeah, I don't think he'll be back...Manny? Who knows. Manny wanting to leave is pretty much par for the course at this stage of the game, isn't it? But really, what other team is going to pay his exorbitant salery and put up w/ all his SH*T?? I think he's got a better deal in Boston than he realizes. I think he's improved in the field a lot over the past couple of seasons, but for every shockingly amazing play he makes, there are two throw-your-TV-out-the-window STUPID flubs!

I was reading the Boston Globe this past summer and learned that Manny has a 6 year contract that's worth about 150 million dollors. He is the second highest payroll in baseball right behind A-Rod so he should just suck it up and deal. But with all those errors he hits homers. I find that he is a better hitter( not as good as Daivd Ortiz but..)
As for Damon I think he had like 10 or somthing. But when compared to Renteria(sp?) who had over 25 errors he is a good fielder. Damon also had the best batting average with a .316 at the end of the season. At one point he had a .345 batting average.
But back to Theo *drools over pictuers*

OK, back to Theo...But first: Yeah, Damon did have a great batting average, and I think almost all of those errors came in a big clump, so I suppose it seemed worse than it was. I still don't think he'll be back though...Oh, and Renteria: Two-time Gold Glover MY ASS! How we let Orlando go is beyond me. *shakes head*
