I'll be very interested to see how this turns out!
LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Oscar winner Charlize Theron is set to add some star power to Fox's "Arrested Development" when its third season debuts next month.
Theron has signed on to guest-star in five episodes of the critically acclaimed black comedy, playing a British woman who becomes the love interest of "Development" star Jason Bateman.
Theron will debut in the second "Development" episode of the season, after its September 19 premiere.
Theron earned a best actress Oscar last year for her portrayal of a serial killer in "Monster." She also is up for Emmy honors this year for her co-starring role in the HBO biopic "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers," in which she played actress Britt Ekland.
OOOO! YAY! I love Charlize Theron and I love Arrested Development!
I hope she's a good guest star, like Liza or Henry Winkler, not like Martin Short.
This is completely random, but I thought this type of show was a dark comedy, and black comedies were like In Living Color.

Orange, black/dark comedy is the same thing.
I've usually heard black comedy used to describe shows, or comedians or something that are made to appeal to African American audiences, not as a synonym to dark comedy.
Man, I can't wait till Arrested Development starts its new season!
It'll be interesting to see how Charlize does on a show like that...

I am so excited about Arrested Develop returning, I think Charlize will be excellent (hopefully) she fits in much better than Short and Liza and Winkler were spectacular, so was Julia-Louis Dreyfuss.
orangeskittles: The term is "Black Comedy," "dark comedy" is sometimes used but neither has anyhthing to do with African American humor.

obviously "black comedy" also refers to comedy by African Americans, but it is still the official term for "grotesque or morbid" humor as well.
I LOVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!! I LOOOOOOOVE IT!
I heart Arrested Development.
Sorry, if that seemed pointless, I just had to say it.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!!!!!
can't wait for the new season, and does anyone know how many seasons were ordered?
Fox can't accept that it's not getting huge ratings, so they're taking it season by season. They were even reluctant to renew the show for a second season...until it got 11 Emmy nominations.
