It was 40 years ago this week The Beatles released The Beatles; commonly known as "The White Album." I listened to it front to back a few weeks ago for the first time in years and it was even better than I remembered it.
I found a new respect for "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey"!

"I Will" might be my very favorite Beatles song.

McCartney's stuff is my least favorite, but Helter Skelter is a masterpiece.

I think "I Will" is just so simple and pretty. There's a disturbing version of children signing it while Annette Bening conducts them from a wheelchair in the awful remake of Love Affair.
I just got out of the hospital with prescribed medications that are supposed to make me "well" and others that will just make me "feel" better. Lying on my bed right now with all the songs from the White Album playing inside my head is a sort of early Xmas present. Thanks, Namo. There's never been a better choreographed match of good and bad songs on any one album. It's damned near perfect.

I think you need a virtual box of savoy truffles.
Oh, and I was so wiped out on hospital-sanctioned meds that just a minute ago I realized i stole a book from the children's waiting area. It's an illustrated version of David Byrne's Stay Up Late. I know it was wrong of me, mista, but it was the drugs I tell ya, the drugs.
