This Board Feels Like High School

Posted: 11/12/04 at 7:14pmHaven't you noticed that over the last few months, people have moved from general dicussion among everyone to their own cliques? I mean, we have "The Hussys" "The Adults" "The teens and twenty-somethings" "the BRKLN lovers" "The BRKLN haters" "The Adam lovers" etc and so on and so forth. I have no clue why I am bringing this up but......I don't know.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 7:18pmIt is just starting to get to the point where I feel that I can't contribute my opinion to that much anymore. I am not a Hussy (Dame has not seen fit to appoint me to this high stature), I am not an Adam lover, I can care less about BRKLN.....you know what I mean. Every now and then a topic comes up where I can put something, but generally not.

Sometimes discussions pop up on those select boards that I have an opinion about but generally I don't.
Sorry for moaning and Bitching but I am not in the best of moods right now so this is the kind of stuff I come up with.

Spider, there's still threads where the different groups interact. But sometimes, I think it's for the best that certain groups have separated themselves from each other to an extent. It saves us a lot of fighting.
I'm not really a member of a group- I'm not an adult, I don't really identify with most teenagers, I'm not an Adam Pascal lover, etc. But it's no big deal to me. My friends here are people I like talking to, and I'll skip from group to group to do so.
Come to think of it, it is kind of like high school. Though admittedly, my high school was really weird. :)

Posted: 11/12/04 at 7:23pmI've stuck mostly to the off board as of late cause I feel like i can't contribute to the Broadway board without having seen the show, more of a personal thing I guess (don't wanna pass blind judgement). Spider I have always felt cliqless on this board. So if you wanna start the Bad MammaJamma Cliq with me I'm always down for the get down.

If it makes you feel any better, Catherine ZJ was on ET last night with Zorro 2, and was looking might fine!
I agree with plum - we have our "groups", but I don't think we're "cliquey" in the sense that most groups are more than willing to embrace newbies. I'm older and at a difference place than most of the people in the threads I frequent on the OT board, but it's nice playing the big sister, even if I can't relate to a lot of what they go through.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 7:27pmGood point by Carl Magnum- I participate where I feel I can. I don't care for a lot of the most popular shows discussed on the main board, so I don't talk much there. I don't give a flying...well, you know...about the Scott Peterson trial, so I've barely said anything there. But hand me a thread about politics, or things that make you muy angry, and I'm there. :)

Spider - take pride in being independent and shun the attachment of a label!
(That way you can butt your nose in on any discussion, whenever you want, and say whatever you want.)

Aw, thanks guys. Like I said earlier, I am in one of my moods right now and that is why I feel the way I do. When this mood passes, so will this feeling. But, I love all of you anyway and I cherish having you people in my life.

I would have to say that high school is far more immature than this board. I wouldn't be here if it was worse.
We do have cliques, but they're not exclusive ones. Like, anyone can come in and chitchat on the angst or random threads. We don't ignore new people. About the Adam one- it's better than us taking over half the board with fangirly threadjacks. Anyone remember those days? We used to drive people insane.
Spider, you're a cool guy. People will talk to you, or at least I will. Start a chitchat thread and see what happens.

Well, why don't we try to make people feel more welcomed here? I hate to leave anyone out.

Ok I have to chime in. I do agree with what has been already said. But when you put a bunch of people together (in real-life or online), it is natural that cliques and groups will form. I myself aren't in any group on this board, but i still have fun talking to new people online and making new friends. You dont have to be in a clique to enjoy youre time on this board. It would be a miracle if this board was just one happy family, but that is near impossible. That's just the way i see it.
