First I went to the DMV this morning because I was finally gonna get my license (I've had my permit for a year and two days), so I woke up at 8:00 (which is early seeing as how I havent seen before 1:00 pm since summer started), and went to take my rode test, I was so excited! But then after an hour in the waiting room I got called in, only to find out that the insurance policy wasnt in my name. An hour later, it was in my name and faxed to the dmv. Then, when I finally got called to the highway patrolmans desk, I found out I needed to go 20 miles back to my school and get an eligibility certificate because suprise suprise, my permit was suspended because my failing grade in math (im in summer school now)He told us I could come back in two weeks because that would be a full 12 months of driving (it was suspended two weeks ago). Then after we got back, I had lost my permit and car registration, after 45 minutes of looking and my father and I retracing our steps and him yelling at my for losing my permit, he found it, under his seat in the car. {insert choice work here} Then, we went all the way back to the Dmv in Hillborough, NC (I live in Durham, 15 miles away) Only to wait 20 more minutes to find out that the Eligibilty certificate wouldnt be all I'd need. My guidance councelor needed to call the school's system downtown, and then (he said) I could come take my road test. I went back to school, 20 miles away, to see my councelor again. (now my dad and I have driven 95 miles in town in 4 hours.) She then connected us to a school councel member downtown who said that my permit would be suspended until I was 18, unless I appealed my grades. (I had an eating disorder for the last year and a half and have been hospitalized almost 10 times, now Im healthy
) Then we went downtown to see the councel member who said that I could fill out the appeal form and then the committee would approve it (she said hands down because of my eating disorder). She also said it would be approved because the DMV only looked at my 1st semester grades and not my whole year grades (because I brought up a 60 in spanish to a 95 in 4 months, ending the year with an 80. But no, they dont wanna look at my whole grade for the year they wanna penalize me for my mental and medical problems. I also brought up my english grade from a 61 to an 85 in one quarter.) So, to conclude my sh itty day, I had to right an appeal as well as my dad (two pages
) and get my priciple and psychologist to right letters.
I know it may not seem like a big deal, getting your license, but it was for me. I have to work da mmit and I wanna have a life, my parents havent let me out of the house in ummm.... 9 months. Has anyone else encountered problems with the DMV? Or maybe the NC school rules just suck bal ls. So I will keep you updated. I will hopefully get it (errrgggg I've been looking forward to today for a year and a half) next Friday or Thursday.
So much for me driving away from the DMV in my new Mustang (actually its an '01 and my older brother's old car). And I cant even drive until this is settled. I hope I can get a little practice in. At least now I know all the road signs, I read the pamphlet for 3 hours. And its not like I'm not knowleagable about the road I didnt miss a single question on the written test last year.

All DMV's suck, it's not just NC's. When I went to get my license, they made my mom and I wait outside in our car (which had to be turned off, so no AC) in August in 98 degree heat for 3 hours. Obviously, I failed my test that day and later went to the doctor with heatstroke.
Oh, I also ran into a parked FedEx truck right outside the DMV in front of a cop.
Jimmyojimmy, your day may suck now, but the horrible experiences you have at the DMV will hilarious stories to tell at parties for years to come. Good luck getting your license!
