Those NY Times "Weekender" ads

You know the ones I'm talking about. The ads with that guy saying, "It's like having a table of contents for (inhales deeply) everything in the world".

The ad's been airing for years. Give me a break already!

"I'm not one of those 'call now' people, but ... Call...CALL!!!!"

I have grown to LOATHE these commercials. The bevy of types chosen to sell their message is singularly unattractive and smug. It plays into the worst cliche about rarified Times' readership, but must be working, or they wouldn't keep using the damned thing.

...and they're actors who are collecting residuals for YEARS!!!!! The damned thing's been running for at least 4 years. Maybe more!

Hahaha

I laugh everytime I hear that line: "I'm not one of those 'call now' people..but call now!" It's cheesey but kinda funny.

How about that Car-mel 666-6666 commercial? I've mentioned it once before on these boards.

"He even takes me shopping"
"He takes me to the theatre"
"Sometimes, he even takes me home at night.."
-"Ooh, girl!"

Auggie & Dollypop, I have a feeling that commercial is nonunion. That's why it gets played so much. They don't have to pay the actors for usage.
