Speaking of barbell: I've decided to have a look around the city to see where they do piercings, and what it's going to entail. And of course, my mom. Dun, Dun, DUNNNN.
Yay Allie!!!!
**squeal**
YES Allie, you should do it!! it's awesome.. hehehe I play with mine constently.. apperantly it's distracting to those I talk to.. I just can't help it.. (or don't want to)

Has it affected your speaking and/or singing voice? Because I could NOT deal with that. I'm not giving up singing.
No it doesn't.
and after a couple of weeks, you can take it out when you sing.
nope not at all.. I have had it for days and well the only people that know about it, know because I showed them..
You should totally do it!!
DO IT!!!
wow...i've had mine for a year...
Totally do it and forget you mum!! it's your body.. your an adult.. I knew mine would probably get me disowned (part of me hoped it would) but I did it anyway.. She actually took more kindly to my tattoo than my piercings.. weird.. just Do It if you want it.. I told myself no for 7 years.. whats the worst that happens you get it done have it for a while and decide you dont like it so you take it out.. big whoops.. Also if you are worried about people seeing it and shows etc.. once it's healed you can put a clear spacer in it and no on ewould be the wiser.. (that's what I will be doing when I have situations where its best not to have it)

Okay, so I asked another friend, and her response was:
I would say YOU'RE F*CKING INSANE!!!! Dont' do it, you won't t be my cute litle Allison anymore!!!! don't pierce your TONGUE!!!! at least only do your belly button or something!
ok, you don't like the navel pircing, but you like the TONGUE?!?!?! ugh, just don't do it... find something else, maybe get a tattoo and they ruin your teeth too! (in your sleep - you can't prevent it), and it IS a bolt!! it's not supposed to sound nice!! how are you intending to deal with the PAIN issue?
WHOA. So I guess there's one no to your yesses.

I have to go to a dance show, BLAH. I'll be back later. This had better be good...
Bye!
you CAN prevent it.
get a tongue rng with plastic balls, or one that's entirely plastic.
or wear a mouthguard to sleep.
Allie heres my take on it.. this is for you not anyone else. so ultimately if you want it get it.. it doesn't change who you are.. And I know people that have had them for years and their teeth are just fine.. If you are that worried about your teeth get plastic beads for it.. Seriously it's your life and you need to do what makes you happy.. this is your life your body and they will get over it.. A tattoo is permanent, a piercing is not.. I can't believe your friend would suggest a tattoo over a piercing.. Take it from someone who had both, go with the piercing, it's really not that big of a deal..
and my uncle is a dentist, and he said there is typically no damage to the teeth
So there you go Allie.. ultimately the decision is yours.. do what makes YOU not everyone else happy..

lol. you guys are enough to convince me to get mine pierced. not that that's a really hard thing to do, but i'm terrified of infection. everything i get done gets infected at some point (and not for lack of taking care of it, thank god for antibiotics). and it just seems like tongues would get infected even worse.
actually middy, the tongue is the least likely to get infected. there are enzymes in your saliva that help it to heal faster than other piercings..
but all that food and gunk.. and i've just heard horror stories from people who have gotten it done. we'll see. i'm going to meet my friend richard for dinner tonight so i'll ask him. (he's the one who got me to get my nipples pierced).
I'm not pierced at all! Well, 'cept my ears.
haha, nice.. I guess it's different for everyone.. I'm really funny about clean teeth anyway so it wasn't a big deal to me to have to use mouth wash after eveytime I eat until it heals..
random side note: my gay male friend even foudn the fact that I have my tongue pierced very hot.. it was a little frightening..
Ok heading home now.. talk to you all in a bit..
