Tiff: Save the fancy shoes for dinner. Dinner time is when you should really show off the goods anyways. But comfort for the day when you're running about and catching everything...

Tico, I'm really interested in getting off the beaten path and see the more "realistic" parts of the city. Is it easy? And are the souvenirs crap?

PACKING? HA! i packed for this weekend in the city in 10 minutes. but first i had to UNPACK (dump out) my duffle from mass. in february. ahh, the joys of procrastination.

i'm actually just going to bed now.

i saw fever pitch so i had to tape kevin hill.

then i got back at 930 so kevin hill wasnt over yet, and i had to wait till 10 to watch it.

THEN i came upstairs and tried to get my internet/computer to work for like an hour (bst knows).

and NOW i'm leaving. talk to you all later!

It is SO easy. We walked everywhere. And you run into little local shops and stuff... don't know about souvenirs, not a souvenir person.

Neither am I, but my tacky friends aren't above giving me a list of doodads that they want, mostly based around chocolate and trinkets.

I'm mostly keen on buying clothes. My bets are that whatever is going out of style in Paris will be getting in style in North America, so I'll be ahead of the game!

Did you go to Versailles?

My two shows are Billy Elliot and Chicago. Unfortunately both are sold out, but I'm willing to get singles if that's what it comes to.

Anyway, my dear Cookie, I need to log off of here and start packing! In case I don't talk to you tomorrow morning (I'm leaving for the airport at around 12 noon EST), *muah muah*, keep my thread alive, and I'll see you in May!

tiff......as long as your pin number for your ATM is 4 numbers, you're ok......it'll work fine. I never bring travelers checks anymore, just some cash and my ATM.
Also.......don't spend all your time at the Louvre.....cross the river after awhile and visit the Musee d'Orsay, in the old Royal train Station (it's their Museum of modern art).
It was much more interesting than the Louvre in my opinion.
The Mona Lisa IS a letdown, very small...and unassuming

kiss, I agree........just don't want her to miss the Orsay.....We did the Louvre on a Sunday, had my plan....knew what I wanted to see, and saw those things. In the Orsay, and the Museum of the Middle Ages........I browsed.....
I forgot......Tiff, if you see this before you leave. The most famous of all the Unicorn tapistries are at the Museum of the Middle Ages in the Latin Quarter.......they are worth seeing......and are featured on the cover (and inside) of the book, the Unicorn Tapestries, by the same author as the Girls With the pearl Earing.
For anyone interested there are also wonderful Unicorn tapestires at the Cloisters....

Wow, I haven't been to the Cloisters in a loooong time. Brings back memories.

We did indeed visit Versailles. It's beautiful. But I think on limited time, unless you have a fascination with it already (I did), you can save it for your next trip.

I have a confession to make.




I haven't moved my ass from this computer chair since 12:48 when I said I was going to. I've got 14 pairs of underwear in my suitcase and nothing else. Is this the time I start to panic?

The thing is, though... whatever you forget, you can always buy it there, right?

Unfortunately, it also means I'm feeling awfully sleepy, and wondering if I should jussss wake uuuup earrrrly in the morninnnnng and pack then...zzz....

Just a couple of lil things. If u have any fears of heights DO NOT take the Notre Dame or Sacre Cour climbs! ( they have signs that warn u- if u get into trouble they can not get u down) In Florence try to spend extra time @ the Uffizi- Incred museum. Carry an H2O bottle u can refill & extra kleenex for public bathrms. ENJOY hon!
