Time to start screaming and yelling

We all knew that this scary Bush-world would require vigilance--time to write to the Washington Post, people, and complain.
Is The Washington Post profiting from the support of anti-gay organizations? The daily newspaper based in our nation's capitol ran a 16 page anti-gay insert on Friday called Both Sides Magazine, which attempted to dissuade African Americans from the associations between gay and civil rights using discounted science from an anti-gay doctor who has even been disowned by the evangelical right.
Among the claims made by the doctor quoted in the insert are "that out of all the mass-murders in the US over the past seventeen years, homosexuals killed at least 68 percent of the victims, 29 percent of homosexuals urinate on their partners and 17 percent ingest human feces. The average life span of a homosexual is 39 years; fewer than 2 percent survive to the age of 65."
How appropriate that the insert's cover features two inanimate stick figure mannequins; groups like this would prefer not to think of us as human.

as far as why though, had the post refused to run a paid advertisement by an african american church they'd have been facing a federal civil rights suit. did the church pay for this all by themselves?

Oh dear god..at this rate I'm already middle aged. Where the hell did they get those statictics? THe age statistics are grossly inaccurate, as are the serial killer numbers...as the majority of serial killers prey on womesn..the homosexual ones just get more publicity.
It really does remind me of the absurd claims made against blacks or Jews or any other group. There is always a pseudo scientist who can manipulate research or falsify statements tp "prove" his cause. And there are always idiots that will believe it.
If you want to believe it is immoral, fine. Do what you gotta do. Teach that it is immoral. But don't print stupid, unsubstantiated claims as fact.

Wouldn't it be nice if all of the conservative members of this board--whose administration has paved the way for this kind of gay-bashing to become fashionable again--clearly and strongly posted messages here expressing their ANGER and OUTRAGE at the contents of this document? Wouldn't that be nice?
I'm not expecting that they will. I'm expecting, as usual, their clueless chorus of "This is NO BIG DEAL!" and "When are you going to GET OVER IT?" Maybe they will be so very very clever and post pictures of crying babies, while they laugh condescendingly at us "whining faggots."
If any of my BLOCKED USERS does have the common decency to disavow this bigotry, somebody please PM me. Meanwhile, I get enough of it in the Washington Post. I don't need it on my BroadwayWorld.

Scary, but my brother in law subscribes to the Washington Post and has it mailed to him here in Oklahoma. I guess he and his will be praying for me now... but wait he doesn't like blacks either, so he probably didn't even read it.
It's funny how bigots-no matter their race or religion or social standing never like anyone different than themselves..but they can unite just long enough to spread more hate...

oh, papa, don't throw stones on the copying and pasting!
It's appalling and the Post should have refused it.
It's wording that is quite similar to Fred Phelps' BS. And it is ridiculous. Straight people do all the same nasty things that gay people do, but we don't talk about those things. Therefore, it seems to paint gays as filthy and disgusting as if ONLY gays participate in the wet and messy.
It's insanity. And, if this kind of crap (no pun intended) keeps up, there is going to be sh!t hitting the fan (pun intended this time).

Posted: 11/23/04 at 4:54amThe fact that people believe stuff like that continues to amaze me, and sadden me. I don't want to live in a country where homosexuality is so widely unaccepted, but good thing I live in NYC - they should succeed.
