Titanic the Musical

I've seen it on broadway and did a community theatre production of it. What would you like to know?

I read that there are many male characters and few female characters. Is this true? Do most of the songs go to the males?

Also, what was the budget like? I mean...there has to be a ship, and it has to sink...I've never seen this done, but I can imagine it would be somewhat of a challenge.

From the clips of the cast recording I listened to, it seemed that there were many more guys songs.

There is a book with the script and some writings about the show. Look around. Check Abebooks.com or some other book search site.

To make the show work, three or four parts have to be done well: the opening which sets the entire evening up, the wireless scene, the Strauss' scene and the ending.

As for the physical production:
The ship is the main 'character' in the show yet it is never seen whole except in a small model. Parts of the ship are suggested. If the ship is not considered the lead role, your production may have problems.

As for the ship sinking, it was the best thing in the show because it was done so simply and any theatre company can do it the way it was done on Bway as long as it is done quickly.

Don't worry about the tilting set. That's what you have a design team for.

My camp did it...the cast loved it, the whole theater department loved it. It's apparently a really fun show to be in.
