There is a miracle happening in my church today! The Cathedral of Hope, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, is the world's largest liberal Christian church with a predominantly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender outreach, and, today, we are celebrating 37 years of ministry, service and activism in Dallas. The fabulous Denise Lee, a local singer and actress, helped lead us in worship, as we took up an offering that will enable us to build an Interfaith Peace Chapel.

Ugh. I'll continue to worship online at much more time-worthy sites, thank you very much.
And what's the big miracle? That it's been around 37 years? Man, people must be desperate for miracles if that sort of thing counts nowadays.
Yes, part of the miracle is that this church has been around for 37 years. As someone who witnesses miracles every day, as people send emails and letters thanking this church for saving their lives, I'd say that there are still people who are desperate for a word of hope about God's inclusive love.
Another part of the miracle, is that this congregation, while giving away more than a million dollars in goods and services to the surrounding community every year, has made sacrifices above and beyond their regular tithes and offerings in order to build an Interfaith Peace Chapel where people of all faiths, and people of no faith, can come together in unity and love to pray for peace.
Blessings, Namo.

In what way is any of those things a miracle? As Elayne Boosler once said when George HW Bush called conception "a miracle": "So's popcorn until you know how it works."
Those are all perfectly darling little stories, each one heartwarming in every single way, but nothing about any of them is particularly "miraculous." Rather pedestrian actually.
Thanks so much for the "blessings," but I did not sneeze.
The title of this thread implies the TODAY is different than any other Sunday.
How did I KNOW that the first thing I would see when I hit that link was "DONATE NOW" and "BUY THIS..." Is THAT a miracle?

I am pretty sure the Church Lady would frown upon children being told of the Lord by rodents.
Sueleen, for those of us at Cathedral of Hope, today, while the same as every other Sunday in that we worshipped God, it also is a different Sunday, a day set aside to give thanks to God for the miracles that have occurred for 37 years and the miracle of peace for which we are sacrificing. As for the "donate now" button, churches, like all other non-profits, require money to carry out their missions. We are no different. I don't expect anyone from this board to donate; I simply want to share the joy of today's worship.

"The miracle of peace?" What are you talking about?
And what does this mean, exactly: "I simply want to share the joy of today's worship." What's the joy in group superstition?
Well, my Sunday miracle is that I just went see License to Wed and I managed to walk out without slitting my wrists. My date and I only laughed at how bad the movie was.

I count among my blessings that you're still amongst us. Even though I did not sneeze.
