So I am curious as to everyones voting experience today. What kind of crowds did you encounter? Did you have computer terminals? Where there people with propaganda on the streets? What time did you go? Was this your first time?
I voted here in Los Angeles. My place was in a hotel ( as it should be for a good hussy). The line was big. I have been voting since the year of Dukakiis and I have never seen such a turn out. I feel really good about it. A huge sense of accomplishment.

Is it Election Day or Groundhog's Day? I keep reliving the same thread over and over and over.
I had a very sexy absentee moment about a week ago...and damn, am I glad I did! It's raining cats and dogs here, traffic is a mess, and the polling places are PACKED!!
osn;
It is election day. If you don't want to relieve the same threadd over and over then may I suggest you read the thread titles before reading or simply stay away from any on line boards today. Hopefully it wil lall be over soon.
Well, if we don't want to relive the same thread over and over again, it wouldn't have killed you to scroll down the main page of the off topic board here, which is already saturated with election threads, to see if one of them was similar to this before posting. Just saying.
Ok, folks. All I have to say is DAMN!!!!!!! I went to vote and they said that I am not on the list of those registered. I was like, uh..yeah I am. And they said that there were a few people today saying that they were registered but not on the list. DAMN!!!

Spider;
There is a number you can call. Did they give it to you?
No, I will go in a bit to get it.

They can't deny you a provisional ballot. Be polite, but insist on it. Also, see if there's lawyers around from voting watchdog groups to help you. Ask if they can call and see if your name is on the electronic rolls. It's possible, like they said, that you're registered but not on them, but it's worth checking. Whatever you do, make sure you fill out some kind of ballot.
Well, actually......let me change my story a wee bit seeing that I wrote it down wrong. My parents went today EARLY this morning and voted and checked on my sister and I because we moved down here earlier this year and my sister and I registered. And they told my parents that we were not on the list. My sister and I both told me parents we were, and the guy told them that there were a few people whose name was not on the list who said that they are registered. I am going in a few to check it out myself and get the number or provisional ballot.
Maybe they registered me in Charleston, SC where my school is, even though I got my driver's licence renewed here (that is when I registered). But, I will go and check it out. No worries. KERRY WILL GET MY VOTE, even if I have to impersonate someone to do it.
Question: Does anyone know when they are going to announce who wins?
after Idina sings, I imagine.

Ah, Well.......just like I wanted it to be.
having been burned nicely last time after calling it too soon, i'd wager that they'll wait at least until the polls are closed in each state. here's a schedule of that:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/misc/poll.close.html
however, the desire to be the first will undoubtedly cause some to start leaking exit polls as soon as they can get their hands on them. make no mistake though, if the results from a state have a difference of less than the total # of provisional ballots cast in that state fuhgeddaboudit. it'll be weeks before they wade through those and the army of attorneys on both sides are salivating at the billable hours available.
i'd look for the decision as to whether they'll know tonight by tomorrow morn or in december by around 11. midnight at the latest. 'course if either of the boys takes all of the big three (oh, pa and fl) by a wide margin look for 'em to call it early.

I voted in the DC area this morning. The wait was over an hour. It was the longest I ever had to wait to vote. Friends are telling me of two hour or longer waits in DC and the suburbs today.
argh are there no decent news channels anywhere on digital cable? skeptics and cynics, I need your suggestions. if you had to sorta trust 1, which would it be?

Dame; at my polling place they were serving mojitos to everyone who voted for that Kerry Hussy!
i wouldn't bother with any of them for a few hours, matt. it's all what's referred to in engineering community parlance as a w.a.g., that's a technical term (wild a** guess), for quite a while yet.
i probably won't seriously start digging into things until around 9 tonight at which point i'll turn to the news folks who make me least want to hurl. no, not fox, pbs. charlie rose is doing a special from 9p-10p and then the newshour gang takes over from 10p-1a. for serious coverage without the screaming insanity of cable with it's requisite heads a'poppin', i suggest jim lehrer, gwen ifil and the folks.
until then, you're on your own. i'll be scouring the blogs left and right trying to find a sense of balance and peeking between fingers at the msm (mainstream media) sites.

I get to avoid the mainstream media, lucky me, because there's only 1 TV in my dorm and it's in the basement, and because I've got so much homework right now I think we might know the identity of our next President before I'm done. Blurgh.
