I don't care what anyone wears on their feet. Just wash 'em regularly. With soap and water. Don't merely get 'em wet and think that's enough.

They do have great Crocs-ish flip-flops for guys that are extremely comfortable and offer great support. If it's a day I know is going to be a lot of walking around, I used those instead of flat flips.
That's the ones I own. They are, by far, some of the most comfortable foot wear I've ever owned.

^^ Nice! But NSFWish.
I think it's gross to wear open shoes in the city and cant imagine doing it...but I'm a bit foot phobic. I'm definitely dirty foot phobic.
I just got these for my trip to the tropics next week:

They seem very comfy. We'll see how they do.

I wear sandals exclusively from when it gets warm to when it gets cool. I don't wear the crappy thong sandals - mine all have an ankle strap. I have never caught anything in the city or have found my feet to particular dirty.

i love flip flops and own way more pairs that i actually need, but once it's warm enough i wear flip flops all the time. i also keep a good foot scrub, brush and pumice stone in my shower. sure it may be a pain to clean them that much, but i hate wearing shoes when its warm. and i make sure my toes look pretty.
