I'm having various issues with my tonsils and I'm wondering if anyone perchance has had them removed or can recommend an excellent surgeon who understands the issues of singers, etc. I'm not sure if my ENT, Dr. Yagoda, does these surgeries, and I'd like to know if anyone here can recommend someone. Thanks :)
investigate this thoroughly. The older you are the more dangerous having them out can be. I was set yo have mine out at 30, until I really looked into it.
Doctors agree don't even consider it as an adult unless there is no alternative, and then.....think about it again.
I had mine out at 30 and it was fine. My mother insisted on spending the first two nights with me. She later told me that the reason she pressed so hard was that my cousin at 31 had had his tonsils out and hemorrhaged during first night home and had to be rushed to the hospital.
I'm not trying to scare you. But I suggest that should you have them out, make sure someone spend the first couple nights with you... just in case.
Good Luck, hon.

Mine were removed when I was twenty five years old. There were no problems at all, I had a poached egg on toast for dinner the same day they were removed.
I've never missed them, they were the bane of my existence. I couldn't sing before they were removed, and I couldn't sing after, so no loss there
I definitely intend to do so, Elphaba. Thanks for your replies!
