Tony the Tiger is 'Dead'

Thurl Ravenscroft passed away. Aside from being Tony the Tiger's Voice, he was also the main singer in the Haunted Mansion ride for the Disney Theme Parks (among many other credits...)

His unique voice will be missed...

re: Tony the Tiger is 'Dead'

He also sang background and bit parts in many classic Disney films like "Lady and the Tramp" and "Mary Poppins," and was the singing voice of Shere Khan in "The Jungle Book."
How sad. He will be missed.

re: Tony the Tiger is 'Dead'

He was also one of the voices of the recruits in South Pacific. Wonderful voice, I was sad to hear the news.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Also sang, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," in the classic, animated version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." I was sad when I read the news today; he was a unique talent. re: Tony the Tiger is 'Dead'

He also dubbed in Stew Pot's solo line in "Nothing Like A Dame" in the movie version of SOUTH PACIFIC.

Plus, what GRRRRRRREAT name to go with that voice!

Well, as they said on Letterman last night, he's now in his GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAVE!

Not to mention Howard Morris, who did numerous cartoon voices, including Jughead on The Archies show, as well as playing Ernest T. Bass on Andy Griffith.

RIP Thurl Ravenscroft.
I hate it when people do obituaries for a character... He was more than a job.

Both people that voiced Fred passed. Henry had replaced Alan Reed in 1977
