Keifer Sutherland's new series "Touch" started last night. To me, it has an interesting premise but the first show was a bit muddled. Anyone else watch it?
I watched half the pilot and couldn't stand it. Extremely Copycat and Incredibly Derivative.
I watched the pilot and the second show. The pilot was filled with "WTF, GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!" moments. Sledge hammer tug at the heartstrings. The second episode became tedious and predictable. Not going to be picked up.
Much prefer the new show Awake.
While I think you can be overly PC about these issues, I was amused by someone from an autism group who was interviewed about the show and said not only does this rely on the now stale "idiot savant" autism trope, it ALSO has the classic "wise/spiritual coloured man" trope to boot. Just... ugh. Plus it's by the headwriter of Heroes and we all know how quickly that crumbled.
I do like Awake, ethough I'm not sure how long it can sustain its premise either, and it seems to be slipping under the radar.
I think awake has a longer life then Touch. They have to develop the one storyline in one of the realities where he is under investigation by his Captain and her "Secret" confidant.
