Haven't seen it yet, but I'm glad there ISN'T a theme song being played nonstop on the radio to shove the movie down our throats every waking moment.
OMG! The IMDb boards! Brilliant! I've been looking for somewhere to have a certain level of conversation, and I clean forgot about the IMDb boards! (Yeah, this is going to be a ROCKING conversation!) Thank you!
Visually, it was awesome. Story wise, nothing spectacular.
I was a LOT more bored during the non-action scenes upon second viewing. I thought I had made a mistake seeing it again. I don't think I would see it a third time.
Yes, the plot is thin, but I've seen many action and sci-fi movies with even thinner ones. It's got characters you can root for and against. The message is a good one. And it's a visual feast from beginning to end. Sometimes I go to the movies just to have fun and be entertained. And that I was... in spades. Not that it's any indication of how good a film it is, but I don't see how it's not going to top TITANIC at the box-office. TITANIC made 1.8 billion worldwide to date. AVATAR has made 1 billion worldwide in three weeks. Even adjusted for inflation, I think it'll easily surpass TITANIC. And I hope it does. It's an amazing achievement!
The best part of seeing Avatar was seeing all the people in the audience in their yellow 3-D glasses. Other than that, beautiful visually but boring and incredibly trite story.
And it cost $67 for my family to go to this movie. Jeezus....
It would have cost more in Manhattan. I'm actually in the mood for a beautiful visually but boring and incredibly trite story.
I'm planning on being inspired by it.
I'm in one of those moods.
We must take our inspiration where we can, PJ....enjoy the show!

You'll get mostly fanboys bitching but that is entertaining in of itself.
I thought this film was a work of art, let me tell you. It very well could be the next Titanic.
I thought this was kind of brilliant:
I enjoyed it. I'd give it a solid B. See it in 3D (preferably IMAX) because it does enhance the experience, and it's kind of a go big or go home situation. Story wise, it is a compelling tale, but it could have been fleshed out more. There was an allegory hidden in there somewhere, but it never made it out.
I loved the mythology and the world building, and I want to have an Avatar waistline.

I want some Avatar tail. And a look at Stephen's lang.
I do like that thing they do when they stick one tail into the other and have a sort of full-body orgasm and then they can ride each other and belong to each other forever.
I mean, the stuff with the American company bulldozing for unobtanium was kinda silly...that sticking your tail in someone else's tail was HOT.

Just like "Titanic" all that excitement about this film dies down after a while. The special edition is on track to opening with only a $4 million weekend.
