I binge watched this over the past two days. I really thought I was going to like it more than I did.

Huss, What was it that made you like it less? I don't stream, so there is no way for me to see this, until it comes out on dvd.

I started to watch it and didn't really take to it. There was just no humor in the show and the whole thing was melancholy which is a rough tone for a television show to have because there is no joy in watching it. I also didn't love its treatment of the transgendered community and thought it kind of avoided talking about it frankly. However, I only got through the first episode so I might have to watch a few more and give my opinion then.

ArtMan,

its hard to put my finger on it. I can say the show flew by as each of the 10 episodes are less than 30 mins each. I don't want to give anything away but the flashbacks from current day back to 1994 Jeffrey Tambor and Judith Light was hard to grasp as the makeup/wigs made them look older.

The three children of Tambor and Light's characters really aren't that likable. I understand they are all dysfunctional but a little too. The last episode in this season was probably the best but even at that point it didn't leave me wanting to know anything else about this family.

Well, I've seen some more episodes and while it doesn't get any funnier, the treatment of the Trans community becomes sophisticated and diverse instead of one note like the pilot gave the impression of. It's also fairly uplifting and probably one of the better shows I've seen in a while, but with how terrible most modern TV is, that isn't saying much.
