I took shelter from the rain yesterday in a little lovely restaurant that I am so happy to have stumbled into. I had, quite possibly, the most perfect linguini with white clams I shall ever have. The staff is friendly and the chef is a charmer! It's on 1st Avenue and E. 59th if you're ever in the nabe. Buon appetito.

Me, too, Reg. I had been feeling kind of blue earlier in the day, and getting drenched the rain during a LONG walk from York 3rd didn't help. I had such a nice experience I left $10 on a $22.00 bill!

The meal, service and atmosphere were a pleasure Added bonus: being addressed as "signorina!" so many times during my visit by a staff with delightful sing-song Italian accents. :)

York *to* third. Sorry for all of the typos.

I'm an east sider, so I'll have to check it out.

My own "caught in the rain" story goes back to one summer when I was in college. I was killing a few hours while a friend was at work, and it started to rain. I ran to the movie theater and bought a ticket, literally not knowing what was showing.

It turned out to be Zeffirelli's "La traviata," and it began my love affair with opera.

There must be something about rain and the Italian language . . .

I know it well. Trattoria Bolognese

And go there frequently.
Perhaps... a gathering for pasta?

And, Reg, I love that story!

PalJoey is a scant few blocks away . . .

Addy, I have a follow-up story involving Teresa Stratas herself. Is the prosecco on you?

I'm always up for some Spaghetti Bolognese and a good Teresa Stratas story.

Not to mention Prosecco.

When?
