What a fantastic song, written by Dolly Parton. If you haven't seen the film or heard this song, download it. It's fantastic. If she doesn't win the Oscar for it, I will be livid - it's the best original song written for a film in YEARS.

I think it will win. In addition to being a great song, it's by a huge star, whose last nom was 25 years ago, losing to "Fame". It's a cinch unless there is somehow an extensive amount of support for Crash. I certainly hope it wins.

Really hoping the DVD for Transamerica says, "Winner of 2 Academy Awards". re: 'Travelin' Through' from TRANSAMERICA

It should. But, I think Reese will inevitably win.

I like the song from CRASH, but it's not orginal. I don't get it.

I have GOT to see this film.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Who could beat Dolly? Kudos to her for writing and performing the song for the film. I'm constantly amazed at people like Dolly, Emmylou Harris and Loretta Lynn; country singers who come out in their own way in very liberal ways (Loretta has a song on her last album, "Van Lear Rose" called "God Makes No Mistakes" and she's gone on the record before saying it's about people with mental disabilities as well as people we perceive as not normal and I do believe she specifically mentioned homosexuality).

I love this song too. I don't know the other nominees, but I can't think of a better original song in a movie this year.

Why hasn't there been any press on how the song from CRASH really shouldn't be eligible, and should be removed from the nominations?

Well, it's not like Bird York is going to turn herself in. I think it's becuse people just don't pay attention to the category.

I made a special poing of downloading "Hard Out Here for a Pimp". What a dreadful, dreadful, piece of garbage song. No way it should be nominated, especially with the other songs left off this year, including the superior "Tell Ol' Bill" by Bob Dylan for NORTH COUNTRY, or "Same in Every Language" from ELIZABETHTOWN. Yuck.

I've asked this before, and maybe I'm just missing something, but why was "A Love That Will Never Grow Old" snubbed?

Mark - apparently it has to do with the 'non-featured' way it was used in the movie.

I saw Dolly on Larry King the other night when they did the TransAmerica show. She said she is going to be Duncan's date for the Oscars because her husband does not want to go to the awards. I think that's kind of sad - but am very excited to see Dolly perform at the show.

How non-featured was it? Less so than Chicago's "written solely for a nomination and shoved over the end credits" effort?

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Cheeze - Dolly's husband has always been very 'fly under the radar' - I think it's what she prefers, as it gives her a grounding outside the whole public persona.

Yes - i know DG. I just thought "she's up for an Oscar - good god man!" lol. She seemed kind of bummed when she mentioned it on King's show, so I felt kind of bad. If she would have called me - I sure would have gone with her!

I love Dolly Parton. I'm not a big fan of the style of most of her music, but she really made me a fan with this new song. If she doesn't win, I will be livid.

Dolly is one of the most 'real' people around - certainly from a celebrity standpoint. Solid as a rock, and with a heart bigger than her boobs - BEFORE she had the reduction!

Munk - check out her last CD - Thos Were the Days - it is really nice, and her rendition of Lennon's Imagine is truly beautiful in my opinion.

Hell, the rumor mill has said for YEARS that Dolly's husband is mearly a beard. They married young and it's been platonic for decades. Dolly's real spouse is her best friend, Judy.

Not that I listen to the rumor mill or anything. re: 'Travelin' Through' from TRANSAMERICA

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

there are only 3 song nominees this year-what's going on? Didn't "Brokeback" have a song? I hope Dolly has it in the bag, up against "Hustle& Flow" and "Crash". There'd be something wrong if she didn't get it.
