Greetings All! :)
As last night's PBS documentary pointed out, with the advent of talkies, Hollywood began making film versions of Broadway shows immediately.
However, that trend has reversed itself a little and now we find original Hollywood musicals being turned into BROADWAY STAGE musicals (42ND STREET, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, STATE FAIR, etc.)
Who can tell us the FIRST original Hollywood musical turned into a Broadway stage musical?
The winner receives the TOTAL admiration of EVERYONE on the board for his/her musical theater trivia knowledge! :)

I don't know if it was on broadway or on film first, but the film was made in 1939.

Hey Boobs, I'll give you bonus points if you can name at least TWO songs that were in the stage GIGI that are NOT in the film version. :)

"She Is Not Thinking of Me" was also sung by Louis Jourdan in 1958 film.
But regarding the rest--you KNOW LERNER & LOEWE!
I AM IMPRESSED TO INFINITY!!!
And remember, "... Without Them What Would Little Boys Do?" :)
M_E - that's naughty!
No, Addy, that's a quote of the song "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" which opens GIGI. :)
Damn Mary_Ethel...I missed that one...it's tough singing them all in your head at the same time and trying to remember.
Oh Addy...Rath and I didn't do the BIG wedding yet...we just vowed to each other.
Addy, we're hoping you'll sing at the official ceremony though...
M_E - LOL!! - I know that's the quote of the song...it's just that particular line taken out of context in BWW... well...(time to get the mind out of the gutter...)
Thank Heaven For Little Girls was always the song my Grandpa would sing to me...it's near and dear to me.
