For correctly answering Trivial Pursuit #100, Mary_Ethel has passed the mantle onto me. From now on, I will be issuing the Trivial Pursuits.
And so, it is my pleasure to have my first Trivial Pursuit:
As a follow-up to the Smash-Hit A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, Stephen Sondheim teamed up with Arthur Laurents to write an outlandish new Musical, ANYONE CAN WHISTLE.
Despite a wonderful score, the show was ahead of its time, and closed after nine performances.
In ANYONE CAN WHISTLE, the inmates of the Town's Lunatic Asylum, The Cookie Jar, are called Cookies.
Towards the end of the show, the names of 49 of the 50 Cookies are revealed to us.
These names reveal something very special about the Cookies. What is it?

Hint #2: The names were listed in Alphabetical Order

the 50 states?
Elphaba: A great guess, but not the correct answer
Thankyou, Captain_Obvious
Elphaba, care to try again?
They're all great humanitarians and thinkers. Brecht, Ghandi, etc.

It's something to do with mental hospitals, anyway...hmmmm....
I give up.
Edit - or great thinkers! That's what I meant...

50 state capitals?
CONGRATULATIONS LAEL!!!
Yes, the 49 Cookies named were some of the Great Thinkers and Humanitarians of our time. Think Brecht, Freud, Gandhi and many others.
I believe this is your first Trivial Pursuit Win!
Welcome to The Winner's Circle!
For your bonus points:
Can you tell me who the 50th Cookie was?
A valiant effort, Elphaba, but to no avail.
Better luck next time!

Are the bonus points only open to the winner, or can anyone jump in?
I know the answer (but of course), I just don't want to step on Lael's toes...

I'm guessing it starts with a "z". But I don't think I know anyone who starts with a "z".
Ellie, you are welcome to jump in if Lael doesn't know the answer...
No, I know it! It's the investigator guy...the one who helps Fay...just give me a second, okay?

Shuuuuup.
Yes!
Lael is is "that inspector guy". And Ellie, his name is Hapgood, played, in the Original Broadway Production by the dashing Harry Guardino.
At the end of the musical it is revealed that Fay knew his identity all along, but went along with his act.
And why?
Because she loves him of course.
Your Prize:
You have been called to investigate a mysterious miracle that has revitalised an otherwise dead town.
But as you investigate, you discover that the miracle is nothing but a fraud.
You must protect the citizens of the town, and your charges, the Cookies, from the awful Mayoress who has been corrupted by power.
But don't worry, it's not all serious. You'll have a lot of fun pretending to be "Ze Lady from Lourdes", a french Miracle Investigater.
And in the end, you get the man, the dashing Hapgood, played wonderfully by the handsome Ellie.
Thanks for playing, folks!
