CONGRATS, Matt, on yet ANOTHER win!!!
Now for your bonus points: At what THEATRE in Philly did "Pretty Lady" play?
The Arch Street Theatre

ONCE AGAIN, Matt, YOU ARE 100% CORRECT!
I BOW to your superior knowledge of 42ND STREET!!!
And your prize?
Well, how does a Greyhound Bus Tour of Philadelphia sound... I hear they make stops at The Liberty Bell AND The Betsy Ross House!
ENJOY Your Weekend, One and All!
hmmm I've done all the philly tourist stuff. how about a trip on the Chinatown Bus Tour with stops at the homes of several of the bus driver's relatives and people he owes money? drops ya off right behind the Gallery.

Just to see the record straight for those who may not know:
There is NOT, have NEVER been, and will PROBABLY NEVER be an Arch Street Theater in Philadelphia.
Philly DOES have an Arch Street, however.

I beg to differ.
Arch Street Theatre
Matt,
I NEVER heard of that Chinatown tour, but its YOUR Prize--and if that's what you want, I say GO FOR IT!
I can even reccomend a MARVELOUS restaurant in Philly's Chinatown--Sang Kee!!!
Give the City of Brothery Love a hug from me, Matt!
Magruder,
THANKS for joggling my tired old brain!
If memory serves, the theater was torn down [in 1936--as the Link you directed to us indicates] so the Broad Street Subway could be extended.
Right, though it was still standing in 1933, when 42nd Street is set.
well folks...COME ON DOWN! Philly was just voted among the "top ten favorite cities in the country" to visit.
I will take you all to TOTO's for a bit of heaven and some fine Italian cuisine....then off to the Kimmel Center.
Yet ANOTHER Point of Interest--
The Broad Street Station (Act II, Scene 4 of 42ND STREET--where "Lullaby of Broadway" is sung) WAS standing in 1933 (year show was set) but was ALSO demoilished--in the 1950s.
