OF COURSE, Allie, Miss Hannigan is actively campaigning for the prohobition of little girls (seems they drive her batty or something--I don't know)!!!
GREAT JOB on a VERY hard to answer question!
Yet ANOTHER win for Allie! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Now for your bonus points:
Who was President when ANNIE opened on Broadway and adopted the song "Tomorrow" as the "theme song" for his administration?

...I guess Allie had to step out.
So I throw the bonus points question up to the entire Board:
Which President adopted the song "Tomorrow" as the theme song for his Administration?

UNCROSS those fingers, Allie!!!
YES, of course it was Jimmy Carter, our 39th President (1977-1981). He saw ANNIE in tryout in DC, LOVED the show, and adopted "Tomorrow" as his own personal Presidential theme song!
WAY TO GO, ALLIE!
And your prize?
Well, you've just found out that you're really an orphan--and you're being sent to an orphanage run by a mean old lady! But don't worry, Allie, I hear there's a man who'll be stopping by the orphanage in a few days looking for a little girl JUST LIKE YOU to adopt--and MAN, HE. IS. LOADED!!!
Keep on trucking, folks!

"Little Girls":
Little girls
Little girls
Everywhere I turn
I can see them
Little girls
Little girls
Night and day
I eat, sleep and breathe them
I'm an ordinary woman
With feelings
I'd like a man to nibble on my ear
But I admit
No man has bit
So how come I'm the mother of the year?
Little cheeks
Little teeth
Everything around me is little
If I wring
Little necks
Surely I will get an acquittal!
Some women are dripping with diamonds
Some women are dripping with pearls
Lucky me!
Lucky me!
Look at what I'm dripping with
Little girls
How I hate
Little shoes
Little socks
And each little bloomer
I'd have cracked
Years ago
If it weren't for my
Sense of humor
Some day I'll step on their freckles
Some night I'll straighten their curls
Send a flood
Send the flu
Anything that
You can do
To little girls
Some day I'll land in the nuthouse
With all the nuts, and the squirr'ls
There I'll stay
Until the prohibition of
Little girls!

"Tomorrow":
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck a day
That's gray
And lonely
I just stick out my chin
And Grin
And Say
Oh!
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

Does anyone know who was the original actress who Dorothy Loudon replaced as Miss Hannigan?
I don't know the answer, I've always been curious...
#15re: Trivial Pursuit #92
Posted: 3/30/05 at 2:26amwildcat, I thought Dorothy Loudon WAS the original Miss Hannigan--why do you think she replaced somebody else?
#16re: Trivial Pursuit #92
Posted: 3/30/05 at 2:48amSomeone else played it first at Goodspeed, and Martin Charnin felt they needed a bigger name for Broadway.

Posted: 3/30/05 at 6:30amMaggie Task was Miss Hannigan during the show's development and for the original Goodspeed production in 1976.

wildcat, per the IBDB, Penny Worth was Loudon's understudy in the Broadway Production.
I think you're thinking of Kristen Vigard--who played Annie at Goodspeed.
Andrea McArdle replaced HER for Broadway--but Vigard stayed with the Broadway production as McArdle's standby.

Posted: 3/30/05 at 8:14amI remember being backstage after a performance with the Keene Curtis/Jane Connell L.A. company when the first orphan had to leave the show because she'd grown too tall. The whole cast gathered around this distraught little girl who sobbed her way through "You Light Up My Life" in tribute to them all. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

Touching story, wildcat.
I wonder if something similar happened with the Orphans in OLIVER!...
