Well, Rath, I'd have to say it WAS real.
Real people lived there going about their lives in a normal fashion.
You're getting VERY close, though!!!
(I guess you could say it WAS a fictional town because it doesn't really exist, but that's not the answer we're going for here. Try and be a TAD more specific!) :)

You are TOTALLY correct! BRIGADOON was a story about a village that appeared only once every 100 years.
Interesting Note: When the show first opened, many theater critics complained that that Alan Jay Lerner "lifted" the whole BRIGADOON plot from a German short story, "Germelhausen." [which does tell a VERY similar story.] Lerner pleaded "The Long Arm of Coincidence" and the matter was ultimately dropped.
Now, KMF, for your bonus points: Please tell us the hit song that emerged from BRIGADOON.
