Trustworthy Airlines? Landing in NY in April?

I'm getting to the city in April. Our plane is supposed to land around 12:00 noon on a Thursday. Do you think it's safe to buy tickets for that evening's performance of THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA? I'd hate for the plane to be delayed and our tickets to go to waste. How dependable are the airlines, how's traffic was LGA to the city on a Thursday afternoon and how's the weather (change of bad weather delaying plane)? Thanks!

I sincerely doubt you'll have any problems. If the plane is on time and you land at 12, you'll be in a taxi by 1pm at the latest, at at your hotel by 2pm latest.

I would wate to purchase your tickets until after you are in the city. Two summers ago, I had tickets to see Raul Esparza in The Normal Heart but I missed the performance due to traffic delays and mediocre weather. I was devastated. The most annoying thing was, I had given myself plenty of time to make it there, but I was on a two hour flight for seven hours. Didn't plan on that....

Thats terrible, Chrysanthemum. I'm afraid, though, that if I wait until the day-of to buy tickets they will be "bad" seats (I know- there are no bad seats in the VB...) or worse, the show will sell out.

Go to the website of your carrier. Check the flight number and see what the "on time" record for that flight number is. I always fly American and they post this info freely and it is very accurate with them. I have also heard that United is very reliable with this information as well.
