I stopped reading Patterson after he began releasing a new book every 8 weeks "co-authored" with some hack.
But when he actually wrote novels himself, the Alex Cross series was one of my faves. I think I read the first 6 or 7.
And this is exactly what I pictured him as.
ETA: and Cicely Tyson is playing Nana. Again, perfect.

Huh. I'm not especially into "these" kinds of movies, and I've never finished a Patterson book, but I will definitely see this. Tyler Perry looks great. He's not an untalented guy. He just focuses all of his talents in exactly the wrong way/places. But the big draw here for me -- as a huge LOST fan of days past -- will be Matthew Fox. Holy shamoly. He doesn't look like himself.
I'm completely blase about the movie to be honest, and I totally agree with your assessment of Perry.
I was just posting the pic because I have never seen an actor match so perfectly with a book's description of a character (physically at least).
I mean, they had Morgan Freeman playing Alex Cross in two movies.
And yeah....Mathew Fox. I didn't even know it was him until I read his name.
I used to be so torn over who I wanted to marry more: him or Scott Wolfe.
In the "Party of Five" days, Scott Wolfe vs. Matthew Fox was a tough choice, and I leaned towards Scott Wolfe. Nowadays, Matthew Fox wins by a landslide. Have you seen Scott Wolfe lately? Did he corpse-rob Michael Jackson's nose?
I have read every book in this series. I devoured the first 8 or so, and then the new ones get read every year just because, but they are no where near the same calibur. They all blur together too.
Morgan Freedman was my perfect casting for the first two movies, but Perry looks pretty good so far. I <3 Ed burns in anything and damn, matthew fox.
