Anyone have significant pro's or con's about the Musical Theatre Departments at any of these places? Anyone who's actually in any of these programs would be very helpful in answering some questions I have about transfering. Please email me at cjwesselman @fuse.net or IM me at CJWesselman12. Thank you very much, this board always manages to answer my questions!

U of M (I'll assume your refering to Michigan and not like Montana or Mississipi) and CCM have excellent (if a bit overrated) programs with stellar alumni lists and amazing faculty. Both are VERY VERY selective with maybe 10-15 people going for theatre a year out of thousands who audition. Also very pricy. Good programs, but of course not for everyone...some people would do better elsewhere.
I know nothing about Wright State.

Posted: 9/10/05 at 9:57pmThere are ways around the price. Don't let that be a deciding factor.

I know your right, what with financial aid and scholarships and everything, but paying for school has become so much more than just covering tuition. Everything's becoming so expensive, it's hard to ever save enough money.

In the end you might have to rule out a school just because tuition is to high, but at this stage don't let it come into play. Pick a number of schools you want to apply to - say 6 - and of those 6: 2 have to be affrodable, 2 have to be in state, 2 dream schools. Something along those lines. Once you are accepted you can see what schools gave you money, what loans are like, etc.
My best advice: SHOP AROUND. CCM and U of M are big names. That doesn't make them right for you. There alot of amazing lesser known schools that are just as good (if not better) than instanly recognizble schools. You don't need to go to Juilliard to make it in this buisness, you need to go where you fit.

Did anyone on this board attend Wright State University?
I did, from 1984 to 1986. Amadeus, The Most Happy Fella, Extremeties, Candide.

Posted: 9/13/05 at 2:10pmI remember hearing that UofM accepts 5 males and 5 females each year. I don't know if that's correct. In any case, it is VERY difficult, and you will have very stiff competition. Break a leg.
