Posted: 3/1/06 at 12:35pmI was watching American Idol last night and saw a commercial for an upcoming reality show, a stupid, but interesting one. It was called Unanimous. $1.5 million is at stake, and everyone has to agree which person in the room will get it. Thoughts? Comments? I can't see this working for some reason...how the hell are you going to get everyone to agree, especially on something like $1.5 million??

Looks intersting. Sounds like it will be all "My grandmother lives in her car and needs an operation...I deserve the money." I wonder if people will just get sick living underground and start to give in to others in the group!

One of my friends is a producer on the show, so I've known about it for awhile.
They do come to an unanimous decision at the end.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Mrs. Slocumbe.
"And I am unanimous in that!"

I imagine there are rules that you cannot share the $$? Otherwise, the goup could unanimously decide to give one person the $$, who in turn could divvy it up amongst his or her underground flatmates!

i wonder if the unanimous decision is either:
a) kill someone
b) split the money equally
c) walk out
oh and on the subject of mrs. slocumbe, did she ever find her run-away ****? i was dog-tired on sunday night and didnt see the conclusion.

Liotte - that would be a very hard thing to enforce after the fact. I mean - there are a million and one ways to "split" the money. I guess the producers can prohibit discussions about splitting the money (on the threat of being removed from the show) - but could the producers really stop the winner 2, 5, 10 years from now sending someone a check. Or prohibit them from buying them a car? WAY too complicated.
There are probably very strict rules and guidelines about discussions and or flat out splitting the money immediately.. but again - there's little to no way they'd have control well after the show was over.

Posted: 3/1/06 at 2:56pmI saw a commercial for this show...I think trapping people crazy enough to go on reality television together in one room AND forcing them to come to a unanimous decision about who gets a large sum of money is just asking for trouble...like violent illegal kinds of trouble...
