The Dems registered a bunch of new voters in Ohio but
the Secy of State there is going to throw the registrations
out because they're on the wrong paper stock.
The story's been verified and the petition came from
Americans Coming Together, which isn't a fictitious group.
Today I've taken action to protect the vote in Ohio, where
the Secretary of State Ken Blackwell is trying to refuse
thousands of new voters the right to cast a ballot in the
upcoming election -- based on the weight of the paper
of their application.
The 2004 election is going to be very close -- and could come
down to just a handful of votes in this key state.
Please join me in signing the Paper Stock Petition today and
pass it on to everyone you know.

Will these people get to vote? I think so.
If the regulations require a certain paper stock, then that the requirement. After all, if you're going to take the responsibility to register people to vote, you should do it properly.
All these people need to do is find a friendly, federal judge and have the judge order the state to accept the registrations.
I really think this will be resolved by the end of... probably next week.
By the way I am going to officially predict that Bush is going to carry Ohio with at least at 15% margin.
you are a jacka** and I am going to officially predict that I am blocking all further posts by you so that I don't have to expose myself to your inane and moronic meanderings from this moment forward
What a disgrace! I don't know how anyone thinks we can get a fair election to happen in Iraq when our electoral process right here in the U.S. is so suspect. Anyway... I signed it and sent it to everyone on my e-mail list. Thanks for the 'heads-up' redhot.
You're welcome, Curtain

Oh for Christ's sake!
I said they would get to vote!
what's wrong with that?
I predicted something about the election!
am I only allowed to do that if my predictions are for kerry?
You people only value free opinions if they are in alignment with yours.
Let me guess redhot... your second post on this thread refers to RodneyK. I couldn't agree with you more. I blocked his screen name last night and it works wonders. It's so much more pleasant around here without him. If the board administrators won't ban him (after repeated complaints of abuse), then at least we have the option to block his ignorant and moronic posts. If everyone he annoys was to do this, then he'd only have one or two other idiots to converse with. Viva La Block!
rodney, redhot is basing his comments on the history of yours... i, and many MANY others, agree with him... but i won't block you, nor will i respect anything you have to say, unless you can do so intelligently and without insulting people... you once posted how much fun the board is without your being an asshole... i guess you gave up... in the meantime, i will merely laugh at you, but you don't even deserve that much respect... joeyjoe - MY HERO!
bump
and again - this topic cannot be overlooked
Redhot, was it only people who identified themselvees as democrats that used that stock of paper, or was it used to sign up republicans as well?

JoeyJoe, thanks for not blocking me. Not that it bothers me when people do.
Matt_G,
"was it only people who identified themselvees as democrats that used that stock of paper, or was it used to sign up republicans as well?"
I would assume that there are republicans in that stack as well. If a democrat sits down with a folding table and a stack of forms in a public place and a republican walks up wanting to register, it is a violation of federal law for the democrat to refuse. I think you all will agree with me that this is the way it should be.
Redhot, Curtain, and Joey... have I said anything in this post that is offense or vulgar? Once again I am attacked for having an opposite point of view.
"You people only value free opinions if they are in alignment with yours."
Nope. We have just written off all of your opinions. It seems members the board has decided to reciprocate the same level of respect with which you have shown them, so there's really nothing to whine about.

Rodney - in this particular instance, you are not being offensive.
Rodney...you've created a reputation for and unfortunately it precedes you.

Matt_G - I honeslty do not know the answer to your question - I only know what is in the initial email and I went on that information.
the message doesn't state whether they were dems or reps, just that the dems were doing the registering.. regardless, it may deprive a segment of the population from their right to vote because of a technicality... sort of like hanging chads...

It's amazing to me how quickly people turn on you in this forum.
as disgustingly dirty as it makes me feel...I'm with Rodney on this one. I think Bush will carry Ohio with a fairly large margin, with or without the people who registered on the wrong paper stock.
