It's always seemed to me that Hollywood couldn't figure out how to use Toni Colelette's extraordinary gifts properly. I've always attributed it her 'unconventional' looks, and I find it painful seeing how the all-devouring homogenization process has turned her into yet another too-skinny stick-figure--and for what? They still can't figure out how to let her really shine.
I enjoyed 'Tara', but didn't love it--it seemed to me the perfect expression of her dilemma. I could just picture the moguls-- confronted with this incredibly talented chameleon of an actress--creating a show that far too literally exploits her chameleon-like qualities by turning her into some kind of a side-show attraction-"Watch as she plays multiple characters at the same time!!!!"
