Im auditioning for my HS musical. The song must be 16 measures, and I'm a mezzo. Although I'm capable of singing in the soprano rage, im more comfortable as a mezzo.
Im looking for a song thats up-tempo. Also, a song that doesnt require belting (i'm not great at it) and that doesnt go "too high" but soemthing in the middle. What I have in mind currently is:
"What I did for love" -ACL
"Nothing"- ACL
But im looking for a larger variety. So if anyone has ideas, that'd be great!
LOL, I thought the subject read un-tempo. I was like, what's un-tempo??
What's the show you are auditioning for?

Thats the problem.None of the students know what the show is!Its frustrating choosing a song with out knowing, but ive decided that I'll sing an uptempo song, or the one of the two ACL songs. Im not sure!

I would use Buenos-Aries(sp) from Evita

Well I wouldn't choose either of those two since they're usually belted. If you want to go classic, look at something along the lines of "It Might as Well be Spring" from State Fair. If you want to go contemporary it'll be harder to find something in the middle range that's not belty, but look at "Slipping Through My Fingers" from Mamma Mia.

Would it be easier to find a comtemporary up-tempo song in the alto range? I'm comfortable in both.
