Don't take this the wrong way. I'm very comfortable with my weight. But lately, I've been just all over the scale, and frankly, it's starting to worry me. Normally, I don't eat as much in the summer, so I can expect to lose maybe a couple of pounds, but I gain it all back anyway.

But recently, maybe my eating habits have gone haywire, but my weight has gone from 140 down to 130 up to 135, down to 125 (O_O!) and back up to a little over 135.

Should I be worried about these...extreme weight swings?

Well, if 135 is your median...this is a distinctly unprofessional opinion, but I think 5-pound swings are about at the limit of normal. So maybe you should ask your doctor about it, but I wouldn't panic.

The thing is that I've never really gone through such extremes as this. Maybe I'd stick around my "normal" weight, like...around 1-2 pounds, it would always stay around there...but it's just. Blah. Scary.

You might want to examne how much salt you are consuming. The more salt you consume, the more water your body will retain.

I agree, I think 5 pound swings are pretty normal - many scales fluctuate like that. Also, make sure that you're weighing yourself at the same time of day each time - but don't do it excessively.

Make sure to weigh yourself at the same tiem everyday. Usually it's best ot get up in the morning, go to the bathroom, and then weigh yourself.

ETA: WHoops! SOmedone already posted that.

Well, I'm glad he got away with it.

That might be it...it might be water weight. I don't know. I'm drinking a lot more water since it's so much hotter now. I normally don't weigh myself much, but when I went to the doctor's to get my physical, I noticed how much weight I had lost.

Only weigh yourself once a week, too. Preferably, yes, at the same time on the same day of the week and preferably before you eat or drink anything.
I think I read once women typical fluctuate, in a given week, 3-5 pounds and guys will fluctuate as much as 7.
