Usdan Center, the nationally renowned summer arts day camp which is holding a free Open House this Sunday, December 2 from 11 AM to 2 PM, proudly announces:
The Daily Dot has selected Usdan composer Emily Morris as one of its top 5 composers in the Metropole (Netherlands) Orchestra's recent Twitter "composition competition." Emily is a member of Usdan's summer administrative staff, and she is Usdan's Tweeter-in-Chief. She composed her piece as an entry in an internet competition called "Tweetphony" in which thousands of composers participated. Visit www.usdan.com for a link to hear the piece.
Metropole Orchestra created the Twitter-based competition in which contestants used the orchestra's interactive keyboard to write a short piece of music. The notes had to be composed just as a Twitter post would be. In other words, Emily's composition could contain just 140 characters, or in this case, 140 musical notes. She composed the piece some weeks ago, and posted it on Usdan's Twitter feed. Emily was one of the competition's winners, and has now been identified by The Daily Dot's critic as the composer of one of the competition's top 5 pieces. Stay tuned - perhaps you will hear the fanfare at Usdan Center in Wheatley Heights next summer!
You may congratulate Emily with a Tweet, or with a Like at the Usdan Center page on Facebook.
