All Ralph Nader ever did was give us a President who squandered the good will of the world after 911 by invading a foreign country. Thosands of Americans have lost their lives and billions of dollars have been wasted!
So, go ahead and vote for some wack job like McKinney!
This thread makes me cynical. Third party votes are a waste, the candidates never win.

It always tickles me to see Democrats lose their lunch when someone mentions voting 3rd party.
Wanna talk about bitter?
Name the last time a third party candidate won....
Third parties are good for introducing new issues and forcing major candidates to start taking positions on those two. They really never win. A third party candidate hasn't even gotten an electoral vote since George Wallace(Segregation now, segregation forever blahlahblah) in 1968. You have a right to vote for who you want, but I still think its a waste of a vote.
Casting a third party vote is preferable to not voting at all but as a practical matter they are equivalent. As someone who would like to have a bumper sticker that says "NOBODY in '08" I am frustrated that these candidates are the best the two parties can agree to come up with. But I will vote for one of them, not sure who even yet, and then go outside the polling place and quietly throw up.
i think you people would be a little more respectful of 3rd partry candidates. after all, ross perot gave you 8 years of bubba.

Well, blame me if Obama loses.
It's okay, I'll survive.
In fact, I'll wear it as a badge of honor.
namaste, it's ok. when he loses, i'll buy you a drink.

First party, second party, thrid party...who cares? Vote for the person you think should be president. A vote is never a waste. Some candidates however are....
And if you think Cynthia McKinney should be president...hoo boy, you ARE a moron, aren't you?
She was elected to her first post through nepotism when she wasn't even living in the USA. Then, got her house seat through unconstituional racial gerrymandering. She impressed us all with her intelligence by noting "Al Gore's Negro tolerance level has never been too high" despite the fact his campaign manager was, as she put it, a "negro." She blames "the Jews.... J...E....W.....S!" for everything bad that happens (literally) and has devoted a large part of her congressional career to releasing "all documents relating to the life, death and career of Tupac Shakur." She's convinced George Bush planned 9/11.
Impressive/
There's nothing like a good resurrection; especially on a Sunday morning.
I remember back when I was optimistic enough to vote for third party candidates...and at least what happened in the aftermath wasn't my fault, because I hadn't voted for the person who won...I have HATED certain presidents, but I always figured what-the-hell, we'll have another chance in four years.
The last eight years have broken my spirit. I might be voting for Obama/Biden without particular enthusiasm, but I am terrified of more years of the same sh*t.
Idealism is no longer a luxury I feel I can afford.
And yes, it makes me sad.
Amen, sister. The lousy taste in my mouth from the two party system is at an all time, acrid high. Only a few months ago I was sad I couldn't vote for John Edwards in the NJ primary. Enough said there.
And yet, whenever I actually enter the booth and pull the lever ... I cannot help but feel the weight of the disenfranchised resting on that lever with me. Those who have marched, fought, bled to cast a vote. The millions who died never knowing the experience.
I used to know scads of people who never signed up to vote, simply because to register supposedly made them more likely to be selected for jury duty. So much for democracy at any level.
Cynical I am in 2008. But the idea of sitting out any election in "protest" of the major annointed candidates is sad version of the old German expression "no answer is also an answer." Their answer is the worst kind of "no" -- a no to all investment, and ultimately no to responsibility for the acts and actions of the society at large. there's no protest but merely the most pitiful, childish kind of indifference -- playing on the playground oblivious to the needs of others.
don't let the bullies around here scare you. if you want to vote third party, it's between you and the voting machine. unless of course it's by diebold and then it's moot.
don't let the strong-arm tactics of the jackbooted bww progressive thug-ocracy scare you out of voting your conscience. remember: you're the one who has to live with your choice.
But if you to decide to vote third party, you need to be prepared to be called a racist and have other lies about you spread.
It's the new tactic of the Obama disciples.
And it's prett much just what I expected from them.
my, my, my. someone has a crush.
'But if you to decide to vote third party, you need to be prepared to be called a racist and have other lies about you spread.'
no, if you vote 3rd party you cannot complain about anything for the next 4 years....since you are wasting a vote......you can't even use the ole "I didn't vote for him" crap, because by voting third party you didn't vote for anyone, or rather took away a vote from someone else.
You can't vote for the "best" candidate anyone, but you can vote for the one that A. can get elected, and B. will do the least damage......sad but true.
3rd party votes are wasted votes, that's just how it is.....and more often than not they let the repigs get in....and we've had 8 years of the worst of that. We do not need more.
As long as someone is exercising their right to cast a ballot, it's not wasted.
Excuse me, Elphaba! Like I told RadiGal, don't dictate how I should vote. I don't feel inclined to vote Democrat 'cause, guess what, I'm not a Democrat. I'm an Independent and thus I vote for the candidate. If neither Obama or McCain speak to me, I've a right to seek elsewhere. A cast vote is a vote cast.
Ehm, no. I think I'll vote Obama.
Vote for whoever you want.
The reality is either Obama or McCain WILL be elected President. Who would you rather have?
FOUR US Supreme Court Justices.
FOUR.
