Hi, My family's going on Vacation to Cape Cod in a week and a half, anyone have any suggestions on dining or activites that aren't directed at tourists? thanks
or places to stop on the way, we're travelling from the Catskills.
welfleet is my favorite part of cape cod.
the farther up you go, the less tourist-y it is untill you get to p-town.

Visit the cranberry bogs! There is also a good summer theater up there.

Make sure you go to Provincetown for the day - BEST PLACE on the Cape!!
Ah, Cape Cod. Haven't been to Provincetown in 8 years, but used to vacation in Cape Cod as a child every summer with my family. I always loved playing miniature golf.

If there is a Sundae School near you, go there. The best ice cream on the Cape. I'm trying to remember other things I liked to do when my family would go down the Cape every summer, but I won't lie... I used to find it so boring. Minigolf is fun, Provincetown is a good time and Chatham is a nice place to walk around.
Where on Cape are you staying? There are tons of small theatres everywhere. A couple of cute shows open this week I believe...
Get to the seashore! Stroll the beaches. If you wait until later in the day you will have most of the beach to yourselves.
if you go fishing on the beach at night as the tide is coming in, you can catch sand sharks. we caught so many of the it was like "enough already!"
my favorite beach is marconi beach. instead of walking up and down dunes with all your stuff, they have stairs.
Sadly AbbaRabbit walking the dunes has become a BIG no-no. The Rangers will yell at you and tell you how they are in danger of eroding away (well d'uh! They're sand!!)
which is why i love marconi so much :)
good sized waves too!
