I never noticed Glebby's thighs. It was the smile that caught my eye!

and... what a great role Lola is!

Those eyes, those thighs...

Two lost souls....

re: Verdon/Lola

that sounds like a lyric from a Sinatra song:

"Those eyes, those thighs
They're part of The Tender Trap."

Glebby's a trap?

What ever Glebby wants... Glebby gets....

re: Verdon/Lola

The extraordinary Gwen. My all time favourite performer giving my all time favourite performance.

She was romantically involved with Jerry Lanning during that revival of DAMN YANKEES. "I'd say, 'You lucky boy!'"

Fosse's note to her for the last step of "Little Brains" was to "arrange yourself inside your panties". Gwen was therefore horrified when a producer suggested the number needed "more bumps". "I don't do BUMPS", she said indignantly.

Her solo in "Two Lost Souls" is simply wonderful. Irreplaceable.

Was Hal Prince the producer who asked for "more bumps"?

re: Verdon/Lola

No, I think it was someone with the Shuberts. Or perhaps Cy Feuer and Ernie Martin watching an invited runthrough. I think the story is in Margery Beddow's Fosse book.

That makes more sense.
